BLAINE and ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. – Donald Hallowell, 85, died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005, after a long illn-ess. He was born Oct. 14, 1919, in Woodstock, N.B., Canada, the son of the late Charles G. and Ida (Bull) Hallowell of Blaine. Don served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from November 1942 – February 1946. He was a medic with the 97th Evacuation Hospital in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, Alsace, and Central Europe. He was also a member of the Hayward-Frazier VFW Post No. 2599 of Presque Isle and the fraternal order of Eagles, in Zephyrhills, Fla. Surviving him is his wife, Viola of Blaine; a daughter, Donna Limieux and her husband, James, of Orland; grandson, Ian McKay of Yarmouth; three sisters, Madeline Hawksley of East Douglas, Mass., Alice Hartley and her husband, Ray, of Fort Pierce, Fla., Ione Dixon and her husband, Robert, of Blaine; stepson, Gary A. Belyea; stepdaughter, Susan Kinney and her husband, Arnold, all of Blaine; stepdaughter, Yvonne Grass and her husband, Robin, of Caribou; stepgrandchildren, Paul Miller and his wife, Cathy, and their sons, Steven and Shane, Calvin Miller and his wife, Shelby, and their children, Gavin and Lydia, all of Mars Hill, Denice Delong and her husband, John, and their children, Megan and Carter, of Bridgewater, Carrie Rideout and her husband, Joel, and their children, Mitchell and Max, Gary G. Belyea, all of Blaine, Michael Grass and his wife, Lori, and their three daughters, Jessica, Sabrina, Heather, of Wisconsin, Steven Grass of California, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. At Don’s request there will be no funeral. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers those who wish may make donations to the charity of their choice.
