WARREN and FLAGLER BEACH, Fla. – Donald Oliver Davey, 85, died unexpectedly March 22, 2006, at his home in Flagler Beach, Fla. He was born Oct. 29, 1920, in Kenosha, Wis. he was the son of Ernest and Mamie (Dittler) Davey. A veteran of World War II, Don served 24 years in the Coast Guard retiring in 1964 as a warrant officer. He served on several ships including the Kickapoo, Wakefield, Snohomish and Basswood. After retiring from the service in 1964, he went to work for Continental Insurance Company, traveling throughout the state of Maine inspecting steam boilers and after 10 years he again retired. Don was predeceased by his loving wife, Laura of Rockland; his son, Donald E. Davey; and a brother, Orville of Kenosha, Wis. He is survived by his son, Daniel and his wife, Victoria, of Warren; son, Dennis of Farmington; daughter-in-law, Laurinda Cushman of Friendship; five granddaughters, 10 great- grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Dolores Rush of Kenosha, Wis.; a special niece, Christine Kaufman of Gurnee, Ill.; many nieces and nephews, as well as other extended family members. He was a true gentleman, proud of his family and will be missed by all who knew him for his honesty and generosity. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside memorial service to be held 10 a.m. Saturday, May 20, at the Friendship Village Cemetery.
