SOUTHINGTON, Conn. – Dorcas B. Theriault, 70, of Briar Lane in Southington, Conn., died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, at John Dempsey Hospital following a short illness. She was the beloved wife of 49 years to Darrell Theriault Sr. Born Jan. 27, 1933, in Howland, the daughter of the late Laurence and Phoebe (Graham) Batchelder. She had been a Southington, Conn., resident since 1966. She worked at the former Ames Department Store in Southington and Meriden, Conn., for many years. Dorcas was a communicant of Mary Our Queen Church, and was a former leader of the Good Shepard prayer group. She loved doing handy work. In addition to her husband Darrell, Dorcas is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Darrell Jr. and Inge Theriault of Bristol, Conn.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Patrick Carmody of Jacksonville, Fla., and Debra and James Bard of Southington, Conn., with whom she made her home; a brother and sister-in-law, Laurence and Leanne Batchelder of Meriden, Conn.; a sister and brother-in-law, Eileen and John Sell of Wallingford, Conn.; a daughter-in-law, Andrea Theriault of Southington, Conn.; six grandchildren, Graham, Kirsten, Matthew, Rebekah, Peter and Tyler; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Edmund Theriault. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at Mary Our Queen Church, 249 Savage St., in Southington. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 3-7 p.m. at the Plantsville Memorial Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville.
