ELLSWORTH – Doris Moran Murchie, 89, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died Jan. 11, 2004, at home surrounded by her family. She was born Nov. 4, 1914, in Ellsworth, the daughter of Arthur and Lura (Carter) Moran. She was a graduated from Rickers Classical Institute, Farmington State Normal School and also the University of Maine. She was a schoolteacher until the age of 65 and taught school in the towns of Hodgdon, Ludlow, Hancock, Lamoine, Bucksport, and Mapleton. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Rev. Raymond Murchie; three children, son, Robert Murchie and his wife, Mary, Barry Murchie and his wife, Regina, son, John; seven grandchildren. She will also be dearly missed by all of her 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three sisters, Mary, Grace and Freda; and three brothers, Allen, Glenn, and Clifton Moran. Graveside services at the Woodbine Cemetery in Ellsworth will be held in the spring.
