LINCOLN – Dorothea Pickering, 80, wife of the late Richard Pickering, passed away Nov. 5, 2007, at a Lincoln health care facility. She was born Dec. 25, 1926, in Bangor, the daughter of Lawrence and Tressa (Allen) Blood. Dot attended Bangor schools. She worked for many years at Bailey’s Drug Store, Main Street, Lincoln and became a registered pharmacist through her work there. She and Richard were very close and traveled extensively. She became handicapped about 14 years ago, and Richard built her a completely handicap accessible home before he died in 1998. She thoroughly enjoyed living in her new home, and her family extends a very special thank you to all the caregivers who cared for Dot throughout the years. She was a member of the Lincoln Congregational Church, and was very grateful to the church people who were so good to her. She is survived by a daughter, Tammy Poore and her husband, David, of Tennessee; a son, Timothy Hamel of Florida; a brother, George Blood and his wife, Phyllis; a sister-in-law, Dawna DeMarey; a brother-in-law, Philip Pickering, all of Lincoln; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Alice Leavitt. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Lincoln Cemetery with the Rev.
