SOUTH PORTLAND – Dorothy A. Soucy, 77, of Grand Street died Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at a Portland hospital following a long illness. A lifelong resident of South Portland she was a daughter of August and Bernice Pray Link. Mrs. Soucy was educated in South Portland schools. She was a member of the Peoples United Methodist Church. Mrs. Soucy worked in various restaurants and was employed by Maine Medical Center for 12 years as a unit helper. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Soucy in 1963. She was also predeceased by a brother, Frederick Link who was shot down over Germany in World War II; and a sister, Bernice Oldham. Mrs. Soucy will be lovingly remembered by two daughters, Carol Black and Donna Young of South Portland; two sons, Paul Soucy Jr. of Brewer, and David Soucy of Bennington, Vt.; five grandchildren, J.P. Raney, Ryan Soucy, Sarah Black, Patrick Young and Jacqueline Young; a great-grandson, Evan Ryan Soucy; a sister, Elizabeth Lothamer of Deer Isle; two brothers, Amos Link of South Portland and George Link of Williamsburg, Va.; numerous nieces and nephews, and many close friends. Visiting hours will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, at the Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland. A service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 22, at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Brooklawn Memorial Park, Portland.
