BANGOR and CARMEL Dorothy Elizabeth Gagne Hichborn, 88, died June 17, 2006, at a Bangor hospital. She was born April 26, 1918, in Bangor. Dorothy resided with her son in Carmel the past two years. Dorothy worked as a welder at Bath Iron Works during World War II. She also worked at Viners Shoe for many years. Dorothy was gifted at making and selling her wonderful afghans. Everyone will miss her wonderful homemade molasses cookies and date filled cookies. Her family was her life and she dearly loved all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the light of her life. She is survived by a son, William Gagne and wife, Bonnie, of Carmel; stepdaughter, June Hughes of Bangor; two stepsons, Kenneth Gagne of San Bernardino, Calif., Carlton Gagne of Hartford, Conn.; grandchildren, Doreen Sands and husband, Jeff, Thomas Gagne and wife, Vicki, Erik Gagne and wife, Kathy; great-grandchildren, Derek, Seth, Cristina, Macy, Amy and Shane; great-great-grandchildren, Erik William, Parker, Kassidy and James; and her extended family. She was predeceased by two sons, Joseph and Richard; and a daughter, Erlene. Friends are invited to visit with the family 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will begin 3 p.m. with the Rev. Clayton Blackstone, pastor of the Advent Christian Church, officiating. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor.
