DEXTER and BANGOR Mona Louise Martin, 69, died June 17, 2006, at a Dexter healthcare facility. She was born May 14, 1937, in Winsted, Conn., to Harry Earl and Virginia May (Slater) Whitmore. She was adopted by Stanley Stuart Martin after her mother’s remarriage. Mona attended schools in Dexter and Corinna, graduating from Corinna Union Academy in 1955. She attended LDS Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mona worked for many years in Bangor at RB Dunning and Webber Oil Co., acquiring many friends along the way. She retired to Dexter in 1999. Mona had a friendly nature and many interests which included her love of the outdoors, reading, music and being “Aunt Nonie” to her nieces and nephews. She is survived by a sister, Frances and husband, Trueman Seamans, of Dexter; brother, Harry and wife, Priscilla Whitmore, of Portland; sister-in-law, Katherine Whitmore of Belfast; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Allen Perry Whitmore. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main St., Dexter.
