SOUTHWEST HARBOR – Dr. Peter Bachrach, 89, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, in his sleep at his home. His wife, Adrienne; his sister, Bronda; his children, Lori, Kate, Sarah, Ruth, Molly and David; Adrienne’s children, Alice, Malcolm, Robin and Bill; and their many grandchildren are all saddened by his death. He died peacefully and lived a very long, full, accomplished and wonderful life. We are left contemplating Peter’s continued quest for “the meaning of life.” Peter will be missed by the many friends, colleagues and students whose lives he influenced. He began his distinguished career in political science at Reed College, followed by a Ph.D. at Harvard University. In addition to the numerous books and articles Peter authored and co-authored, he taught undergraduate and graduate students at Bryn Mawr College and Temple University, and guest lectured throughout the world. The family will have a private service. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Peter’s name to the American Civil Liberties Union, 25 Broad St., 18th Floor, New York, N.Y. 10004.
