BREWER – Edith D. Curtis, 91, wife of the late James A. Curtis Sr., died Feb. 14, 2004, at a Brewer healthcare center. She was born Nov. 23, 1912, in Brewer, the daughter of Ralph W. and Christine (Hewes) Arey. Edith is survived by one son, James A. Curtis and his wife, Lois, of Orrington; five grandchildren, Ami Norton of Gouldsboro, Robert Norton and Anita Demmons, both of Orrington, Jody Norton of Penobscot, and a special granddaughter, Cindy Gray of Levant; five great-grandchildren, Kristen Bouchard, Courtney Demmons, Jeremy Holmes, Leighanna Norton and Nicholas Norton; four sisters, Daphne MacNevin of Glenburn, Evelyn Rist, Vernice Sucy and Eleanor Young and her husband, James “Hoofer” Young, all of Brewer; 12 nieces; and 12 nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Edith was predeceased by a son, Ronald Curtis; four sisters, Frances Carnahan, Cordelia Ranks, Annie Sullivan, Marjorie Campbell; and one brother, Sidney Arey. At her request, there will be no services and private burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor. Arrangements by Kiley Funeral Home, 69 State St., Brewer.
