BRADLEY and MILFORD – Edith Marie Cunningham Day, 90, passed away March 11, 2005, at Stillwater Health Care, in Bangor, after a long illness. She was born May 14, 1914, in Milford, the daughter of the late Vernon A. and Hazel (Cary) Cunningham. She went to schools in Milford and Alabama before graduating from Old Town High School in 1932. She worked locally before becoming a loving and dedicated mother to her seven children. She was a life-long member of the Eastern Star, as well as a member of the Emblem Club and the First Congregational Church of Milford. Edith enjoyed dancing, shopping, and traveling, and most of all spending time with her family at the Eagle Lake camp. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Edgar “Red” Day Sr.; a son, Athol “Teddy” Day; a daughter, Rachel and her husband, David Murray; her brothers, Vernon A. Cunningham Jr., Leland Cunningham, and Freeman Cunningham Sr. She is survived by her brother, Murray Cunningham and his wife, Mary, of Ipswich, Mass.; her children, Edgar “Shelly” Day and his wife, Della, of Clearwater, Fla., Terry Day of Old Town, Suzanne Goodie and her husband, David, of Old Town, Trygve Day and his wife, Donna, of Bradley, and Diane Goodie and her husband, James, of Hudson, N.H. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, all of whom she adored. Funeral services will be private at the family’s request. A graveside service at Milford Cemetery will be announced in the spring.
