PRESQUE ISLE – Elmer H. Davis Jr., 81, died Wednesday March 9, 2005, at a Presque Isle hospital. He was born Sept. 29, 1923, at Presque Isle the son of Elmer and Nina (Hoyt) Davis. Elmer graduated with a bachelor of science degree in agriculture from the University of Maine. He owned and operated a dairy farm, managed the Aroostook Farms Dairy and helped manage the dairy when it became the MPG Dairy. He was a pilot and flew for the Air Ambulance, Guimond Farms, and the Civil Air Patrol. Elmer owned and operated Elmer H. Davis & Co., an accounting firm in Presque Isle, and was a ham radio operator. He was a member of the Presque Isle Rotary Club and a former member of the Masons Trinity Lodge No. 130 AF & AM. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Kelley) Davis of Presque Isle; a son, Richard Davis and his wife, Katherine, of Tok, Alaska; two daughters, Susan Lovely and her husband, Mark, of Cumming, Ga., Nancy Mills and her husband, Kenny, of Wells Beach; a stepdaughter, Leah Rae Donahue and her husband, Michael, of Bar Harbor; a grandchild, Rachel; two stepgrandchildren, Micah and Ryan; and two great-grandchildren, Lynn and Danielle Marie. He was predeceased by his first wife, Natalie(Clark) Davis. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2005, at the Presque Isle Congregational Church with the Rev. Robert Grove-Markwood officiating.
