DEDHAM – Edward F. Ching, 98, died Oct. 31, 2007, at a Bangor health care center. He was born May 21, 1909, in Honolulu, son of Sen and Keau (Wong) Ching. Ed was employed for 37 years by Bangor Hydro Electric Co., retiring in 1971. He was a member of Bangor Hydro Electric Co. Quarter Century Club. Ed was an avid gardener and had planted a vegetable garden this past summer. He maintained his driving license and was driving up until five months ago. Ed was the eldest citizen of Dedham and held the Boston Cane. He was predeceased by 11 brothers and sisters. Surviving is Adelia Caputo, his number one girl and companion, who had been at his side for the past 25 years. They enjoyed traveling, spending their summers at Lucerne Lake and winters in Ormond Beach, Fla. Ed loved spending time with his extended family, Linda and Wynn Dwelley, Troy McHugh and his wife, Susan, and their children, Travis and Danika. He also had a special friend, Valerie McLain. One of Ed’s favorite sayings was “Life has been good to me.” The family thanks Dr. Toby Atkins and the staff at St. Joseph Hospital and Eastside Rehab & Living Center for their wonderful love and care. A funeral service will be held noon Monday, Nov. 5, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Clayton Blackstone officiating. Friends are welcome to call 11 a.m. Monday until time of service. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor.
