CALAIS – Edythe A. Kallenberg, 90, died Jan. 15, 2008, at a local nursing facility. She was born Jan. 18, 1917, in Yestreb, Hungary, the daughter of the Rev. Rudolph and Stephanie (Molscanyi) Runtagh. Edie graduated from Wyoming Seminary, Kingston, Pa. She worked in banking in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, and then for IBM during World War II. After marriage to Kenneth A. Kallenberg, Aug. 1, 1947, in Springfield, Mass., she moved to Calais to spend the next 15 years as a mother and a homemaker. At that time, she returned to work in retail in the local Calais area. Edie’s passions were knitting, reading and her family. She was known for her love of animals. Edie was a communicant of Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Calais. She was predeceased by a son, Kenneth, who died at birth; two sisters, Thelma Runtagh and Alyce Scholz of Springfield, Mass.; and a brother, Robert Runtagh of Lewistown, Pa. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Kenneth of Calais; daughter, Joan Talbot and husband, Alan, of Milbridge; grandsons, Matthew A. and his wife, Nicole, of Rockland, and Morgan J. and his wife, Ariel, of Salem, Mass.; great-granddaughter, Mikayla of Rockland; sister-in-law, Nellie Russell of Calais; and numerous nieces and nephews.
