HAMPDEN – Elois Thelma (Reed) Hamor, 80, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, April 14, 2005, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Nov. 21, 1924, in Boston, Mass., the daughter of Charles H. and Clarabel (Hughes) Reed. She attended Boston schools and graduated from East Boston High School in 1943. Elois had worked as a bookkeeper for Reed Rigging Company and for the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. She married Ernest T. Hamor Feb. 14, 1946. Elois was a longtime resident of Hampden, and was a member of Star in the East Chapter No. 17. O.E.S. of Hampden for 35 years, serving as treasurer for 29 years. She was also active in the Hampden Senior Citizens and the Meals for Me program. Elois is survived by her children, Elaine Doody and her husband, Dale, of Bath, Ernest Hamor Jr. and his wife, Deborah, of Hampden and Earle Hamor and his wife, Shirleen, of Hampden; grandchildren, Elaine and Dale’s children, Jason Doody and his wife, Shelley, of Topsham and Justin Doody of Topsham; Ernest Jr. and Deborah’s children, Benjamin Hamor and his wife, Dori, of Iowa, Matthew Hamor and his wife, Sharla, of Glenburn and Christa Hamor of Portland; Earle and Shirleen’s son, Gregory Hamor of Winterport and his girlfriend, Casey; great-grandchildren, Camryn Doody and Avery and Colby Hamor and great-stepgrandchildren, Lilly and Elliott, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Sr. in 1981; by her parents, sisters, Evelyn MacDonald, Myrtle Adams and Thelma Reed; brothers, Earle C., Charles W. and John T. Reed. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday, at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Avenue, Hampden, where the officers and members of Star in the East Chapter No. 17 Order of Eastern Star will conduct an evening memorial service 7 p.m. Monday. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Debra J. Hanson, pastor of the Hampden Highlands United Methodist Church officiating.
