NEWPORT – Elton N. “Posey” Nason, 82, died unexpectedly Nov. 28, 2005, at a Pittsfield hospital. He was born Dec. 30, 1922, in Palmyra, the son of Thomas M. and Elida E. (Heald) Nason. He attended Newport High School where he excelled in sports. “Posey” as his friends knew him was a business man and inventor and a visionary, always starting up new businesses and then moving onto something more challenging when they were a going concern. In his early years, he worked at Striar’s Woolen Mill but soon built himself a Jitterbug and drove that into Nason Construction Company, then on to real estate and helping develop Newport. Posey was a life member of the Sebasticook Valley Snowmobile Club in Newport. You could always count on seeing Posey and Sally in his bright Red Model A on a sunny summer day driving around Newport and surrounding towns. He is survived by his daughter and her husband, Lynda and Bill Fowlie of Harmony; two grandsons, William of Harmony and Ronald of Edinburg, Texas; two great-granddaughters Jasmine Fowlie of Skowhegan and Sabrina Fowlie of Kingfield; one brother and his wife, Harry and Dot Nason of Newport; his long-time friend and companion, Sally Millett of Newport and her family, Hugh Flye of Henniker N.H., Rhonda McPherson of Alexandria, Va., their children (his extended grandchildren) Jaclyn Flye, Colby and William McPherson. Two brothers, Thomas and Richard predeceased him. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at the Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 34 High St., Newport.
