CARIBOU and BRUNSWICK – Katherine (Coombs) Hilton, wife of the late Myron D. Hilton, died Nov. 26, 2005, at Caribou. She was born Nov. 19, 1920, in Livermore Falls, the daughter of Frank and Edith (Hennessey) Coombs. She was educated in the public schools in Livermore Falls and Rangeley and was a 1939 graduate of Brunswick High School. She was a communicant of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She greatly enjoyed riding and hiking in the Maine countryside. For many years she was active in amateur Gilbert and Sullivan productions in the Bath and Brunswick area. She was an avid reader and enjoyed music and writing. She is survived by two sons, Peter Hilton and his wife, Judy, of Presque Isle and David Hilton and his wife, Mary, of Norway; one sister, Evalyn (Coombs) McKenzie and her husband, Richard, of Falmouth; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of more than 51 years, Myron in 1992, her parents, a brother, Jimmy; and a sister, Florence. Friends called 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at the Haley Cemetery, River Road, Topsham. Mrs. Hilton was extremely fond of attending St. Benedicts Abbey in Fall River, Mass. and a Mass of Christian Burial will be said for her there at a later date.
