HOULTON – Elwin V. Hastey, 81, died Dec. 14, 2006, at a local health care facility. He was born July 16, 1925, in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, the son of Howard and Helena (Townes) Hastey. Elwin worked at Houlton Motors until its closing and was a World War II veteran. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne (Richards) Hastey of Houlton; two children, Larry and his wife, Janice, of Houlton and Holly Pelletier of Bramford, Conn.; stepchildren, Susan Archer of Island Falls and Shawn York of Littleton; grandchildren, Sherry Sewell, Adam Hastey, T.J. Pelletier, Kelly Pelletier and Ryan Hastey; great-grandchildren, Ben Sewell, Nicole Sewell, Rachel Hastey and Riley Hastey; sister, Charlene Taylor of Millinocket; brothers, Delmas Hastey of New Limerick and Dale Hastey of Pennsylvania; several nieces, nephews and cousins; very special friends, Sam Fast and Carl and Tede Shields. He was predeceased by his parents; one son, Gary; stepson, Michael York; and sister, Cozine Bates. Friends may call noon-2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. with Sam Fast officiating.
