SEARSMONT – Erminie Cleo Wadsworth, 70, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, in Sumter, S.C. where she was staying for the winter. Erminie was born Feb. 8, 1935, in Rockland, the daughter of Carroll and Muriel Pauline (White) Hickman. She was raised in Rockland and attended the Rockland schools. In 1956, she married Melvin Wadsworth and they lived in Appleton for 30 years before moving to Searsmont in 1986. Together they ran the Appleton Village Store and the family chicken farm in Appleton. For 24 years they spent their winters in Florida. Erminie enjoyed music and playing the piano, reading, crafts and making wreaths. She also liked to travel, camping Down East at Schoodic Point and shopping. She loved family gatherings, her grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom raising her six children. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by three sisters, Caroline Hickman, Velzora Hickman and Hester Phillips. Erminie is survived by her husband of 49 years, Melvin Wadsworth of Searsmont; six children, Dana Wadsworth and wife, Kathy, of Searsmont, David Wadsworth and wife, Edna Mae, of Searsmont, Karen Lane and husband, Richard, of West Rockport, Darlene Pease of Augusta, Vicki Wadsworth of Auburn and Andrea Lucas and husband, Leon Jr., of Dalzell, S.C.; 15 grandchildren, Tera Corson, Dana Wadsworth, Jeremy Wadsworth, Travis Wadsworth, Holly Wadsworth, David Wadsworth, Jeffery Lane, Matthew Lane, Laurie Lane, April Berry, Angela Pease, Leon Lucas III, Jennifer Lucas, Luke Lucas and Jesse Lucas; six great-grandchildren, an aunt, Rita Broader; her father-in-law, Merton Wadsworth of Camden; and two cousins, Elaine Dye and Sonny Hickman; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Borzoni. Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, at the Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. David English officiating. Burial will follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Appleton.
