WASHBURN – Floyd C. Cunningham, 88, died Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, at a Mars Hill healthcare facility. He was born June 30, 1917, at Caribou, the son of Henry and Maggie (Price) Cunningham. He graduated from Caribou High school. He married Eleanor Blackstone in 1939. Floyd owned and operated a farm for many years and also operated a cedar sawmill for 10 years. He was associated with the 4-H for 38 years, superintendent of livestock at the Northern Maine Fair and was the outstanding fair person in 1997. Floyd was chairman of ACAP 1972-1975 and a board member from 1972-1980, served 17 years as selectman at the town of Wade, was a school member in the late 50’s to the early 60’s, a charter member of the New Life Baptist Church in Presque Isle and raised registered purebred Siberian huskies. He loved to fish and was an avid storyteller. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Cunningham of Washburn; a son, Sheldon Cunningham and his wife, Sandi, of Wade; three daughters; Wanita Hallowell and her husband, Larry, of Lakeland, Fla., Melvina Peary and her husband, Darryl, of Londonderry, N.H. and Beth Gagnon of Washburn; a son-in-law, Jackie Reed of Wade; 14 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Lois Reed; and a great-grandson, James Reed Jr. Relatives and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Joseph Mortland officiating. Spring interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Perham.
