BELFAST and SEARSPORT Our Mom went home to be with the Lord on July 28, 2004, at the age of 98. She was a very loving person and a special friend to all. Her many interests included knitting, crocheting, embroidering, playing dominoes, and spending time with her family. All of us have many items made by her hands to remember her by. Losing her mother at the age of eight, she became mother to her younger siblings. In her early twenties she taught in many one-room local schoolhouses. She was predeceased by her husband, Everett Gilmore Sr.; son, Rodney Gilmore; three sisters; one brother; two sons-in-law, Richard Seekins and Willie Lamb; her parents, William E. and Ada A. (Thompson) Plummer. Mom was very much respected by her four sons, Leonard Gilmore and wife, Judy, Everett Gilmore Jr. and wife, Florence, Kenneth Gilmore and wife, Janice, Paul Gilmore and wife, Cathy; four daughters, Ada Gordon and friend, Ed Gotham, Ruth Hamm and husband, Lloyd, Maxine Seekins, Sharon Lamb; and daughter-in-law, Cathy Gilmore. We will always carry many wonderful memories of Mom in our hearts. She was also loved by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. A celebration of our mother’s life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 2004, at the Young Funeral Home 31 West Main St., Searsport. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Searsport. In lieu of flowers, donations in Erna’s memory may be made to Tall Pines Health Care Facility, 21 Martin Lane, Belfast, ME 04915 or to the American Cancer Society, 1 Main St., Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086-1240.
