PALMYRA – Willis “Bill” F. Cowan, 46, died unexpectedly Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at his home in Palmyra. He was born May 19, 1958, in Waterville, son of Brian and Merna (Grant) Cowan. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was employed by Irving Tannery before becoming disabled. He was a true fan of Star Trek and the Sci-fi channel. He loved to fish and camping, work on his vehicles, do electrical and carpentry work. He was an active member of AA He was predeceased by his father, Brian Cowan. Survivors include his son, James Cowan; and daughter, Jennifer Cowan both of Pittsfield; a brother, Brian Cowan II of Newport; a sister, Sheryl Vanadestine of Palmyra; his fianc?e, Rosemary Cole also of Palmyra; grandchildren, Hannah and Michael Pelletier and Nakia Accilian; an aunt, Virgie Faulkingham of Prospect Harbor; an uncle, Maurice Jenness of Palmyra; nieces and nephews, Jacob, Rachel, Brian III and Chad; many cousins and friends. Visiting hours will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, with funeral service following at 4 p.m. with Pastor Vasha Piermont officiating at Donald H. Shorey Funeral Chapel, 35 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield. Burial will take place 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, at the Palmyra Village Cemetery on Route 151 in Palmyra. Donations may be sent to James Cowan, 86 South Main St., Pittsfield, ME 04967 to help defray the cost of the funeral.
