FORT KENT – Essie Voisine, 90, died peacefully Dec. 14, 2006, at a Fort Kent health care facility. She was born July 31, 1916, in Daigle, the daughter of Onezime and Margaret (Deschaine) Gagnon. Essie worked for Northern Maine Medical Center, in housekeeping, for many years. She enjoyed gardening, knitting and sewing for her family. She is survived by her son, Lewellyn Voisine of Notre Dame De Lac, Quebec, Canada; three daughters, Rolande St. John and Gilmay Pelletier of Southington, Conn., and Louella St. John of Bristol, Conn.; one brother, Valdor Gagnon of East Millinocket. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grand-children, many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to both her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Alcide F. Voisine; six brothers, Conrad, Lawrence, Ned, Jim, Louis and Herbie Gagnon; four sisters, Georgina Thompson, Prudence Landry, Isabelle Jandreau and Ala Cyr. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. until the time of service Monday at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Spring burial will be at the parish cemetery.
