LINCOLN – Estenna “Tena” Mae Vose, died peacefully July 25, 2005, at a Lincoln hospital after a long battle with congestive heart failure. She was born Jan. 2, 1922, in Monticello, the daughter of Hilda (Bulley) and Harry Hanning. She graduated from Houlton High School and nursing school. She was a nurse for 19 years at Aroostook General Hospital in Houlton, Madigan Memorial in Island Falls, Workman Hospital in Lincoln and Eastern Maine Medical Center. She is survived by her beloved husband of 49 years, James A. “Jim” Vose; two children, Kathryn Ann Vose Wilson of Enfield and her husband, Jesse Wilson, and Sterling Leo Britton and his wife, Sandy, of Hermon; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-stepgrandchildren, John Britton and his wife, Sherry, and Jesse of Lincoln, Jim Britton and his partner, Dan, of Bucksport and Jamie and Melissa, Barbie Britton Lindsey and her husband, Steve, and Linwood of Port St. Lucie, Fla. Philip Pelkey and his wife, Kathy, of Lincoln and Nolan, Bryce, Brandon and Justin, Brent Britton and his wife, Sharon, and Connor of Tampa, Fla., Lisa Britton Libby and her husband, Keith, and Brianne and Griffin of Dover-Foxcroft, and Suzanne Britton and her husband, David, and Catherine and D.J. of Levant and Amber Gibson. She is also survived by her loving sister and husband, Betty and John Lynch, of Monticello; five very special nephews that she loved dearly, Nicky Lynch, Michael Lynch, Kevin Lynch, John Shorey and David Shorey. She also leaves behind her oldest and dearest friend, Agnes Ricker “Gram” of Bangor, and Clara Chessie of Lincoln. She was predeceased by her dear sister, Daphne Shorey of Bath. She will be remembered as a devoted wife to her husband, Jim and an adoring mother to her children, Kathy and Sterling. She loved to play bridge with her dear old friends, Erma Barton, Elva Murphy and Beulah Hockridge. During her last weeks she reminisced many, many times about the wonderful times they all shared at the bridge table. We know that Beulah has the bridge table all set up in heaven and has just been waiting for Tena. She loved Aroostook County and some of her ashes will be spread there to a place she held so dear to her heart. A gathering of friends and family will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2005, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln.
