ETHEL M. MACLEOD ORONO – Ethel M. MacLeod, 85, of Orono, died Jan. 15, 2004, at a Bangor hospital. She was born July 23, 1918, in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, the daughter of Thomas and Mabel (Bonness) MacLeod. She spent her early years in Kellyland. She attended school in Boston, and worked as a dietician in local hospitals before joining the staff at the University of Maine, Orono, in 1951. She retired as the assistant director of residential life after 30 years of service. Ethel was a member of the Mayflower Society, Maine No. 2443, and Clan MacLeod. She loved spending summers at her cottage on Oak Bay in St. Stephen, New Brunswick. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Ellis and John MacLeod. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Teresa MacLeod, Brewer; a nephew, Daniel MacLeod, of Center Ossipee, N.H.; and great-nieces, Allison MacLeod, Bronx, N.Y., Lauren MacLeod, Lindsey MacLeod, and their mother, Kathleen MacLeod, all of Dover, N.H. A memorial service will be announced in Monday’s edition of the Bangor Daily News. Spring interment will be held in St. Stephens Rural Cemetery, New Brunswick.
