IRENE LOUISE HUNTLEY PIERSON HOMEWOOD, WILLIAMSPORT, Md. – Irene Huntley Pierson, 93, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004. She was born Oct. 7, 1910, in Providence, R.I., the daughter of the late Floyd Julian Huntley and Iola Willson Huntley. She was a graduate of the Worcester Art Museum School, Worcester, Mass., director of the handicraft department, Worcester Girls Club, an accomplished sailor on Narragansett Bay, and the owner of The Knitting Ball, Rockport, Mass. On Sept. 26, 1940, she married Corydon Boyd Pierson and moved to Caribou. She was vice-president, Pierson Chevrolet Inc. She was active in Cary Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and served as president of the organization. She was a lifetime member of the First Universalist Church, Caribou. She was an accomplished weaver, winning many awards and recognition for the quality of her weaving on an eight-harness loom. She leaves one daughter, Pamela Parziale, of Kearneysville, W.Va.; two sons, Huntley S. Pierson of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Corydon B. Pierson Jr. of Bow N.H.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years; by her brother, Floyd J. Huntley Jr.; and by her sister, Eunice Rawson Ziegler. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Melvin T. Strider Funeral Home, Charles Town, W.Va.
