BELFAST – Eugene W. Knowlton, 77, died Dec. 16, 2003, at Waldo County General Hospital. Eugene was born July 20, 1926, at Blanchard, the son of John and Mary (Marshall) Knowlton. Eugene had worked in both the Maplewood and Penobscot Poultry plants in Belfast, the Banton Brothers Mill in Newport as well as the woolen mill at Old Town. He had spent years working with his brother, Abner Knowlton, in the woods. Eugene is survived by one sister, Persis “Aunt Poppy” Snowman of Dexter. For many years he lived with his niece, Maryanne Sprague of Jackson. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, June 4, at the family lot at the Blanchard cemetery in Blanchard.
