DEDHAM – Max E. “Max Kay” Knowlton, 71, died at his home in Dedham with his ever faithful dog, Archie, at his side. He was born March 26, 1933, in Bangor, the son of Everett and Marguerite Knowlton. Max lived a busy and varied life. His education, service, work and interests included serving with the U.S. Army during the Korean War, graduating from the Criminal Justice Academy, flying planes, driving tractor-trailer trucks, working as a garage mechanic and entertaining with his country music. Surviving are his wife, Patricia; one son, Greg Knowlton and his wife, Rhonda; one daughter, Gail Grondin and her husband, Rick; one granddaughter, Heather Hazelton; several nieces and nephews. At his request, there will be no formal services. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Bucksport Animal Shelter. Cremation arrangements by Cremation Basics, Inc., Bangor. <
