BAR HARBOR – Frances Goodrich Williams, 92, died April 24, 2005, in Bar Harbor. She was born Jan. 18, 1913, in Duxbury, Mass., the daughter of Benjamin F. and Iza (Moore) Goodrich. Frances graduated from Mount Holyoke College. She received her master’s degree in library science from Simmons College. She worked as a college librarian for Wheaton College in Norton, Mass. She was a librarian for 20 years. Frances was a resident of Bar Harbor for many years. She enjoyed gardening and she encouraged the love of books, learning and education and later volunteered for the Hancock County Extension. She was a caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Frances was a member of the Unitarian Church of Ellsworth and Duxbury, Mass., and a member of Friends of Acadia. She is survived by two sons, Harold T. Williams Jr. and wife, Nina, of Bay Village, Ohio and their children, Kathryn Thomas, H. T. Williams III, and Dana Soroczak; and John G. Williams and wife, Clara, of Auburn, Ala. and his children, Megan Deluca and Tamsen Malcarney; one daughter, Susan Oblinger of Germantown, Ohio and her children, Christen Oblinger and Brent Oblinger; one brother, Benjamin F. Goodrich Jr. and wife, Natalie; and one sister, Betty Clark, all of Duxbury, Mass.; and seven great-grandchildren. A Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2005, at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Ellsworth, 121 Bucksport Road, Ellsworth.
