BAILEYVILLE – Frank Douglas Jones, 78, died March 29, 2005, at a Bangor hospital, after a brief illness. He was born Sept. 8, 1926, in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, the son of George F. Jones and Violet McKinnon Jones. He graduated from Woodland High School in 1944. In 1945, he joined the Army and was stationed in Panama as an M.P. Upon returning home, he worked for the St. Croix Paper Company, later Georgia Pacific, as an electrician and electrical supervisor, retiring after 44 years. Doug was elected to the Baileyville Town Council in 1963 and served for 42 years, over 20 years as chairman. He was president of the Eastern Maine Electric Co-op, executive member of the Maine Municipal Association, wage negotiator for the Washington County Commissioners, a member of the American Legion W.T. Wren Post of Baileyville, a charter member of the Spednic Club, a 50-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, member of the Route 9 Improvement Committee, a member of the Maine State Legislature Policy Committee, a member of the Lewey’s Island Lodge Masons of Princeton, St. Croix Lodge of Calais, Anah Temple of Bangor, and the St. Croix Country Club in Calais. He is survived by his wife, Jennie Jones; a son, William Sargent of Baileyville; three daughters, Dianne Ibenthal of Ruidoso, New Mexico, Christine Cox and her husband, Gerry, of Baileyville, Pat Burnham and her husband, Dale, of Denver, Colo. Doug is survived by six grandchildren, Melissa Seeley, Corey Jones, Tracey Cox, James Cox, Jennifer Ortega, and Whitney Burnham; five great-grandchildren, Zachary Seeley, Logan Jones, Peyton Jones, Desiree Ortega, and Rachel Ortega. Doug was predeceased by his son, Thomas Jones. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at the Baileyville, Maine Cemetery. Friends are encouraged to gather together after the service at the home of Christine and Gerry Cox, 73 Washington St., in Baileyville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Doug’s memory to the Ronald MacDonald house in Bangor, ME.
