LIMESTONE – Gail J. Tweed, 62, wife of John W. Tweed, died Monday morning, Feb. 27, 2006, at her Limestone residence, after an extended illness. She was born Oct. 29, 1943, at Limestone, the daughter of Richard and Laura Phyllis (Gallagher) Libby. She was a graduate of Limestone High School, Class of 1961 and had attended Husson College. Gail was married to John W. Tweed July 2, 1965 and had been employed as a stenographer for the Civil Engineering Squadron, Loring Air Force Base from 1965-1968, had resided in Berlin, N.J. from 1969-1978 and also worked as an accounting tech at D.F.A.S., Loring until her retirement in January 2004. Gail was a member of the Limestone United Methodist Church and was a member of the Women’s Bowling League, Evergreen Lanes, Loring. Gail enjoyed spending time working in her vegetable garden, picking fiddleheads, restoring antique furniture and relaxing at the family’s camp on Cross Lake. She also enjoyed traveling around the country vacationing with her many friends and relatives. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tweed was predeceased by one brother, Roger Libby. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, John W. Tweed of Limestone; four sons, Tyler Tweed and his wife, Rhonda, of Caribou, Tim Tweed and Brian Tweed, both of Limestone, Brent Tweed and his wife, Christina, of North Berwick; one brother, Roland Libby of Cushing; two grandchildren, Brandon and Blair Tweed, both of Caribou; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Nancy Pelletier of Limestone. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday, March 2, at the Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 3, at the Limestone United Methodist Church, Main Street, Limestone with the Pastor Ellen Cleaves, officiating. Interment will take place at the Webster Cemetery, Limestone, later in the spring. Relatives and friends are invited to join in a time of fellowship at the church, following the funeral service. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Tweed to the Limestone United Methodist Church, 45 Burleigh Ave., Limestone, the American Cancer Society, New England Division, Inc., One Main St., Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086, or to a charity of one’s choice. Envelopes will be available at both the funeral home and church.
