MONSON – George H. Carlson, 91, husband of the late Mary (Ogilvie) Carlson, died Jan. 12, 2006, at a Greenville, S.C. hospital. He was born May 6, 1914, in Brownville, the son of Oscar H. and Louisa (Degerlund) Carlson. Mr. Carlson had worked for Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, Conn., before retiring and moving to Monson. He was the owner and operator of Moosehead Marina in Rockwood for 20 years. He was a member of the Columbia-Doric Masonic Lodge No. 149 in Greenville. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by a son, Stephen Carlson and his wife, Kathleen, of Pelzer, S.C.; a brother, Henry Carlson of Winthrop; three grandchildren, Tammy Angeli, Wendy Given and Jamie Smith, all of Conneticut; five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Gordon; and a sister, Gertrude Cilley. A graveside memorial service will be held at the family lot in Hillside Cemetery, Monson, in the spring. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
