DEXTER – Georgena L. Burton, 85, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, April 5, 2007, after a brief illness at the Dexter Health Care facility. She was born April 6, 1921, in St. Martin, New Brunswick, the daughter of Freeman and Anne (MacDonald) McLean. She moved to Dexter when she was in her teens, where she later met and married Olan E. Burton. They raised their sons and lived in Dexter the rest of their lives. She worked at several of the local woolen mills and also at Dexter Shoe Co. She was a sports woman who loved to go camping, fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling. Georgena also enjoyed doing crafts and filled her families homes with the things she made. She had a big heart for people, inviting people to stay with her when they had a need. She attended the Pleasant Street Christian Church for a number of years. She was predeceased by her husband, Olan; and two brothers, Miles and Fred McLean. She is survived by her three sons and their wives, Keith and Cindy of Medford, Larry and Glenna of Corinna and Gary and Margaret of Dexter; 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; also her faithful canine companion, Minnie. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 9, at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main St., Dexter. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, at the funeral home, with Pastor Michael Troyer officiating.
