PALM HARBOR, Fla. – Mrs. Georgia E. (McNamara) Rankin, 88, formerly of Melrose, Mass., died at her home in Florida, following a brief illness, Sunday morning, Feb. 12, 2006. Mrs. Rankin was born Sept. 5, 1917, in Medford, Mass., daughter of the late Arthur McNamara and Margaret M. (Cripps) McNamara. Mrs. Rankin was raised and educated in Melrose. She received her bachelor of science degree in education from Massachusetts School of Art. She worked as an art teacher for 30 years in Bangor and upstate New York. Mrs. Rankin was a member of the American Association of University Women and was a water colorist who exhibited and sold her paintings in upstate New York, Florida and Maine where she was also active in several art societies. Georgia was the wife of the late Robert G. Rankin; and the mother of Ruth R. Morton of Moorhead, Minn. and Roberta G. Casaceli of Palm Harbor, Fla. She was the sister of Margaret A. Pendleton of Framingham; grandmother of Andrea S. Morton of Somerville and Jacob B. Morton of Brookline. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 17, at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose, Mass. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
