NEWPORT – Geraldine B. Nickse, 78, passed away Dec. 28, 2007, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease, surrounded by her family at an Orono health care facility. She was born April 13, 1929, in Hartland, a daughter of Charles and Lillian Melba (Neal) Shaw. Jerry is survived by her husband of 47 years, Warren H. Nickse of Newport; three children, Mindy Carr and husband, Dennis, of Lee, Michael Cleaves and friend, Jan Bryant, of Stetson and Debra Stone and husband, Ken, of Newport; grandchildren, Jennifer Cloutier of Corinna, Jason Cleaves of Stetson, Christopher Carr of Brewer, Rochelle Cleaves of Brewer, Katie Trask and Abigail Stone, both of Newport; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Braden and Anna Carr of Brewer, Brian Cleaves of Stetson and Carrson Cloutier of Corinna; three sisters, Lucy Mooers of Waterville, Donna Friend of Newport and Norma Davis of Parkman. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, two brothers; as well as a grandson, Michael W. Trask. At Jerry’s request, there will be no funeral service.
