FORT FAIRFIELD – Gladys Louise (Reid) Lundstrom, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, died Jan. 2, 2004, at the Presque Isle hospital after a long illness. Gladys was born Aug. 2, 1922, in Fort Fairfield. She was the daughter of Frank and Hattie (Osgood) Reid. After graduating from Fort Fairfield High School in 1940, she moved to Connecticut where she worked in a department store. Upon returning to Fort Fairfield, she was employed at the Frontier Trust Bank where she met her husband, Charles, a flight engineer stationed at the Presque Isle Air Force Base. They were married May 15, 1945. Gladys was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Mars Hill Chapter, for 25 years, holding several offices. She was also a member of the Lionettes in Presque Isle. Gladys worked as a nurse at the Mars Hill hospital for several years. Gladys is survived by her husband of 58 years, Charles; two sons, John “Jay” of Kennebunk, James and wife, Susan; two grandsons, Christopher and Justin, all of Medway; nieces, Peggy Getchell of Florida, Martha Kinney of Massachusetts; and a nephew, Franklin Getchell of New York City; a special grandniece, Taylor McKinney of Massachusetts; special friends and neighbors, Keith and Harriet Strout and Freeman and Brenda Dyer of Fort Fairfield. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lundstrom was predeceased by two brothers, Frank “Bussy” and Edward Reid; one sister, Lillian Getchell. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Main St., Fort Fairfield, where members of the Order of the Eastern Star, Lunar Chapter No. 126 will conduct a service at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, at the St. Pauls Episcopal Church with the Rev. Susan Murphy officiating. Interment will take place at the Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield, later in the spring. A time of fellowship with refreshments will be held at the church immediately following the funeral service.
