FRANKLIN and JONESBORO Greta M. Foss, 74, devoted mother and grandmother, died March 23, 2006, at a local healthcare facility. She was born Aug. 8, 1931, in Jonesboro, the daughter of Lionel and Gladys (Whitney) Dinsmore. She graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1949. Greta had a great sense of humor and was loads of fun. She loved to dance and sing. She loved her gardens and nature. She worked at Cirones Ford and also for Dale Whitney as a bookkeeper many years ago. Greta wrote many nice articles for the MVNO and organized the “Hadley Lake Social Club” while a resident at Hadley Lake apartments, which she enjoyed so much. She is survived by her five children, Barry Kirkland and wife, Nola, of Jonesboro, Lavonne Kirkland of Winter Harbor, Cindy and Tom of Harrington, Roger Foss Jr. and Terry of Bucksport and Brent Foss of Texas; her grandchildren, Jillian and Mindy Kirkland, Shawn Goodwin, Alex Kirk-land, Roger Foss III and Abbey; also nieces, nephews and cousins. She leaves behind two sisters, Genevieve Johnson and husband, Norman, of Yarmouthport, Mass.; and her twin sister and best friend, Leta Hileman of Cloumbia Falls. She was predeceased by her parents and a very close friend, Valarie Geel. The family would like to thank the staff at Mount Vista for such loving care given to Greta. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. April 15, at Forrest Hill Cemetery in Jonesboro, with Gerry Look officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choosing.
