TRESCOTT – Harold R. Moores, 85, died June 16, 2006, at a Machias hospital after a long illness. A life long resident of Trescott, he was born there Dec. 18, 1920, the son of Levi and Bessie Moores. He served with the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II, surviving Normandy and other campaigns. He then returned home to marry Audrey M. (Preston) Moores. Together they raised three sons. As a young man he enjoyed hunting with family and friends. He was employed in the area sardine and poultry industries until he retired. Being the second of 10 children, he was always called upon for advice, help and guidance. His passion was farming, and always available, he could be called day or night to help with a sick or injured animal. He will be sadly missed by his family and others who knew him as a good friend, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He leaves two sons, Douglas C. Moores of Fairbanks, Alaska and Cecil L. Moores of Trescott; two brothers, Merill and Raymond, both of Trescott; one sister, Gladys Denbow of Bangor; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Audrey; a son, Garold R. Moores; two grandsons, Douglas C. Moores II and Daniel A. Moores; a great-grandson, Waylon M. Moores; five brothers, Leo, Phillip, Gordon, Albert and Clifton; one sister, Shirley Trott. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m Tuesday, June 20, at the West Lubec Methodist Church with Pastor Dale Hupp officiating. Burial will be after at the Greenlawn Cemetery, Lubec.
