BREWER – Harriet C. (McCracken) Gildart, 68, died unexpectedly Nov. 17, 2005, at a Bangor hospital after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born Jan. 8, 1938, in McKeesport, Pa., the daughter of Harry McCracken and Mary (Banick) McCracken Hillegas. Harriet was employed for many years at the Bangor Mental Health Institute as a mental health worker until her retirement in 1997. She loved her family, spending time with her grandchildren, and going to yard sales and flea markets. Surviving are her husband, Philip J. Gildart, of Brewer; three children, Tony Lopez of West Gardiner, D. Joyce Gildart-Currier and her husband, Brian, of Eddington, James M. Gildart and his wife, Roberta, of Corinth; five grandchildren, Lordina “Peppy”, Brittany, Whitney, Taylor and Benjamin; one great-grandson, Patrick “P.J.”; four sisters, Betty Jane Kudzey of Virginia, Connie Brown of Florida, Dona Stevenson of Pennsylvania, Sandra Boch of Maryland; one brother, Harry McCracken Jr. of Pennsylvania; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Nancy Readel of Pennsylvania. Services and interment will be private.
