STOCKHOLM and BREWER Hartley W. Jepson, 90, went home to be with the Lord, April 7, 2007, in Bangor. He was born July 23, 1916, in Stockholm. He married Albertine (Anderson) Jepson, April 30, 1940. They resided on the family farm in Stockholm for many years – the farm that his grandparents, the first settlers from Sweden, settled. He was a potato and dairy farmer for many years and later worked for a local radio station as an advertisement salesman. After selling the farm, they retired to their camp on Madawaska Lake and the Bangor/Brewer area. In Bangor, he and his wife went to various nursing homes to sing, and also was a member of the YMCA Kitchen Krew Band. He loved to sing and was always asked to sing at weddings, including his daughters’, or any occasion, either by himself or with his brother, Abner. While a resident at Bangor Nursing & Rehab with his wife, he entertained many residents with his singing. He blessed many with his ever-ready voice, singing hymns and old time favorites for anyone who would listen. We are sure he must be singing “How Great Thou Art” in heaven right now. He also loved woodworking and gardening, and was well known for his wonderful sense of humor. He accepted Jesus as his personal Savior at an early age and was a member of the Stockholm Baptist Church and also attended Columbia Street Baptist, Bangor. He will be sorely missed by his wife of 66 years, Albertine Jepson of Bangor; three daughters, Janet and husband, Stuart Burtchell, of Fort Fairfield, Barbara and husband, KC Rider, of Emporia, Kan., and Sue and husband, Wayde Leighton, of Hampden. “Baba” will be missed by eight grandchildren, Kevin Forsman and wife, Kathy, Kurt Forsman and wife, Vicki, Keith Forsman and wife, Trisha, Jeanne Zahn and husband, Paul, Jodi Hess and husband, Brian, Jayne Hamilton and husband, Reg, Christine Hazard and husband, Greg, and Aimee Leighton, his little kooka-la-goomba. He also is survived by 16 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, brother, Abner; and son-in-law, Larry Forsman. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, at Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home, Caribou. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, at Stockholm Baptist Church, Stockholm. Family and friends are invited to share in conversation and refreshments in the basement of the church immediately after the service. Interment will be in the spring. Donations in his memory may be made to the Stockholm Baptist Church. Condolences may be sent to Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover Ave., Caribou, ME 04736.
