FORT FAIRFIELD – Helen M. McShea, 88, wife of the late Lewis D. McShea, died Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 15, 2005, at a Caribou healthcare facility, after a brief illness. She was born March 3, 1916, at Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Leo and Lena (Wilcox) McLaughlin. Helen graduated from the Caribou High School in 1935 and was married to Lewis D. McShea in 1942. Mrs. McShea was a former member of the Sunshine Club, Fort Fairfield and had attended the Fort Fairfield Wesleyan Church. Helen enjoyed playing cards and bingo with her friends and neighbors. She possessed a special talent for knitting and crocheting and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McShea was predeceased by her husband in 1951; one daughter, Mary Ellen Fitzherbert in 1980; one infant son, Gary McShea; three brothers, Fred, Raymond and Charles McLaughlin; four sisters, Gretchen Murphy, Myrtle Sjoberg, Mable Brown and Priscilla Drost. She is survived by three sons, James McShea and his wife, Linda, of Fort Fairfield, Thomas McShea of Wallingford, Conn., Sonny McShea of Fort Fairfield; one daughter, Bonnie Bassett of North Orange, Mass.; one brother, Leo McLaughlin; three sisters, Thelma Frost and her husband, Orvis, Mavis Carson and her husband, Donald, Shirley DeMoura and her husband, Sonny, all of Caribou; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grand-children; numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, at the Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, at the Celebration Center, Houlton Road, Fort Fairfield, with the Rev. Mark Babin officiating. Interment will take place at the St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield, later in the spring. A time of fellowship will be held at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield, immediately after the funeral service.
