BREWER – Henry E. Bray, 55, died unexpectedly Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004, at a Bangor hospital. He was born April 19, 1949, in Castine, the son of Henry C. and Letha F. (Nevells) Bray. Henry was a graduate of Stonington High School, Class of 1967. He was a hard working man, and held many interests. He was the founder and former owner of The Fisherman’s Friend Restaurant in Stonington, City Limits Restaurant in Bangor, and The Seafood Connection, also in Bangor. Henry also assisted in the operation and management of several other area restaurants. For the past five years, he and his wife, Donna, owned and operated Affordable Restaurant Equipment in Brewer. Henry was a licensed auctioneer, and owned Capital Recovery Solutions, an auction company. He was a former member of the Downeast Fairgrounds Association, and was currently a 3rd degree member of Council No. 1036 Knights of Columbus in Ellsworth. Henry also enjoyed traveling, and one of his proudest accomplishments was sailing on board the Russian Tall Ship Mir, where he fit right in with the Russian boys. He helped in the kitchen, and showed the crew how to prepare fish, “Downeast Style”. Henry joined the crew in Rockland, sailed to Boston with them, and then participated in a Sail Race with them as far as Halifax, Nova Scotia. Though he departed the ship there, the crew went on to win the race to Helsinki, Finland. Henry will be missed by his family and the many friends he has made through his many connections. In addition to his parents, Henry and Letha Bray of Stonington; he is survived by his wife, Donna L. (Field) Bray of Brewer; two children, Anthony Wayne Bray of Stonington, and Kelly Marie Eaton of Amherst; several grandchildren; six brothers and sisters, Rachel Place and her husband, Clyde, of Hampden, Charlene Jones and her husband, David, of Deer Isle, Mary Shields of Stonington, Timmy Bray and his wife, Nancy, of Stonington, James Bray and his wife, Barbara, of Deer Isle, and Dexter Bray of Deer Isle; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Jeanne Bray. Friends are invited to visit with the family 4-6 p.m. Friday, at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Main Street, Stonington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Granite Street, Stonington.
