BANGOR and ORRINGTON Herbert A. McClure, 84, died unex-pectedly March 8, 2005, at his home in Bangor. He was born Sept. 15, 1920, in Orland the son of Captain Harry and Mable (Harriman) McClure. Herbert graduated from Bucksport High School. Mr. McClure was a World War II Veteran in the U.S. Army, serving during the D-Day invasion at Omaha Beach, and the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the Orrington VFW After the war, Herbert worked for St. Regis Paper Co. in Bucksport until 1958, leaving the mill at this time to go to work for the Orrington School Department until his retirement in 1992. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and being with family and friends. Herbert was a very kind and giving person that will be greatly missed. He is survived by one son Herbert McClure and his wife, Nancy, of Newburgh; one granddaughter Kelly M. McClure of Millbury, Mass.; Three brothers-in-law Rodney Hoyt and his wife, Edna, of Lewiston, Idaho, Forrest Pooler of Bangor, and George Pooler of Bucksport; three sisters-in-law, Isabelle Gray of Orrington, Kathleen Chapman and her husband, Tim, of Cartersville, Ga., and Judy Downum of Mary Esther, Fla.; several nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his special friends Richard and Ethel Lindsey of Orrington. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years Helen (Hoyt) McClure; his sister Gladys Lawton; two brothers, Ernest and Harold Herrick; four sister-in-laws Florence Pooler, Emma Pooler, Madeline Peterson, and Theresa Hoyt; five brothers-in-law, Warren Hoyt, William Gray, Warren Peterson, William Jeffries, and James Downum. At Mr. McClure’s request, there will not be any service; interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Bucksport. Arrangements by the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home & Cremations Service, 28 Elm St. Bucksport.
