BOLIVAR, Tenn. – Herbert F. Morang, 81, died Monday, Dec. 12, 2005, at the Williamson County Hospital in Franklin, Tenn. He was born March 16, 1924, in Machias, to Herbert F. Morang Sr. and Emma Carver Morang and had lived in Bolivar since 1986. He was a minister for the Church of Christ for more than 50 years and also was a special education schoolteacher in Maine and in Hardeman County, Tenn. He graduated from David Lipscomb University in Nashville in 1953, with a bachelor’s degree and his master’s degree was received from the University of Maine in Orono. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Middleton Church of Christ. He was predeceased by his wife, Ila Mae Grass Morang, who died in 1991. He is survived by two daughters, Carol Gill and her husband, Gary and Cathy Black and her husband, Howard, all of Bolivar, Tenn.; one son, Chris Morang and his wife, Barbara, of Carmel; a brother, Richard Morang of Harrington; seven grandchildren, Sharon Broome, Betsy Lucas, Justin Duke, Roy and Hannah Black, Brittany Harvey and Emily Morang; three great-grandchildren, Katherine and Aidan Broome and Dakota Brown. Mr. Morang was predeceased by two sisters, Lucille Urquart and Daphene Crowley. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel in Middleton, Tenn. Services are 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, at the funeral home. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, at Lambert Lake Cemetery, where he will be interred next to his beloved wife.
