HAMPDEN – Ione Hammond Jones passed away in her sleep Nov. 1, 2004, in Placentia, Calif. She was born Jan. 2, 1918, in Hampden She was raised in Hampden where she later taught in a small rural elementary school. She moved to Oregon in 1961, and was active in her church and community. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Dettmar. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon of Elko, Nev.; son, Charles of Placentia, Calif.; brother, Linwood Hammond of Salem, Ore.; two grandchildren, two great- grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service for family and friends will be held 2 p.m., Nov. 14, at Calvary Baptist Church in Salem, Ore. In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made in her memory to Calvary Baptist Church, 1230 Liberty St. SE, Salem, OR 97302.
