FORT KENT – Irene (Pinette) Daigle, 102, died peacefully March 3, 2007. She was born Jan. 8, 1905, in Fort Kent, the daughter of Victorie and Annie (Nolan) Pinette. Irene was a charter member of Northern Maine Medical Center Hospital Guild. She attended Presque Isle Normal School, Castine Normal School, and Madawaska Training School. She was a teacher in Fort Kent for several years. She was also an avid bridge player, having been a member of the Fort Kent, Madawaska and Edmundston Bridge Club. She was predeceased by her husband, David D. Daigle, in 1972; and her daughter, Mary Elizabeth Daigle; two brothers, Arthur and Bill Pinette; two sisters, Rella Davis and Una Andrews; one son-in-law, Jim Moore. She is survived by four children, Peggy Moore of Fort Kent, Jim Daigle and his wife, Sis, of Delray Beach, Fla., and Fort Kent, John and his wife, Nancy Daigle, of Fort Kent, and Janet Daigle of Portland; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grand-children and two great-great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday, March 7, and 9 a.m. Friday until time of service at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, March 9, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Spring burial will be in the parish cemetery.
