BAR HARBOR – James “Tiger” Edwin Parsons Sr., 86, died March 3, 2007, in Bar Harbor. He was born Feb. 23, 1921, in Bar Harbor, the son of John E. and Annie (Higgins) Parsons. James served as a Seabee in the No. 63 naval construction battalion during World War II, in the South Pacific. He worked many years as a bricklayer and contractor in many states. After he retired, he loved to cook and he made many quilts to give to his friends, neighbors and family. James was a member of the Bar Harbor Masonic Lodge No. 185, York Rites, Anah Temple Shrine and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Winifred (Paine) Parsons of Bar Harbor; three daughters, Norma Jean Lambert, Jeanne P. Fournier and husband, Lucien, all of East Waterboro, and Bonnie Anne and husband, David Poland, of Bar Harbor; two brothers, Harry Parsons and companion, Annie Wheaton, and Harland Parsons and companion, Shirley Corklin, all of Bar Harbor; grandchildren, Kara and husband, Mark Sandchez, Scott and Lane Lambert, Michelle, Megan and Brett Fournier, Troy and wife, Amy Mitchell, and Ross Mitchell and special friend, Meghan Ruhlin; and one great-granddaughter, Chloe Hannah Mitchell. James was predeceased by a son, James E. Parsons Jr.; and a son-in-law, Stephen Ross Mitchell. Friends are invited to call 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, with a 6:30 p.m. Masonic service at Jordan-Fernald, 48 Eden St., Bar Harbor. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Bar Harbor with Pastor Scott Records officiating. Spring interment will be at Ledgelawn Cemetery, Bar Harbor.
