CARIBOU – Irvina R. Dixon, 81, beloved wife of the late Hanford Dixon died March 17, 2004, at the Maine Veterans home, Caribou after a brief illness. She was born July 10, 1922, at Stockholm, Maine, the daughter of Irvin Z. and Claudia (Tall) Howe. She was brought up in Stockholm, attended schools there and was the town’s first Winter Carnival Queen. Shortly after World War II she was married to Hanford Dixon and the two became Caribou residents in 1948. Irvina was an active member of the Perkins-Plourde Post, American Legion Auxiliary No. 136 of Stockholm and was a longtime member of the Caribou United Baptist Church. For the Past 14 years she has been a resident of the Maine Veteran’s Home, Caribou. She is survived by one daughter, Connie E. (Dixon) Lint and her husband, Robert, of Caribou; two brothers, John Howe of Prattsburg, N.Y., Russell Howe and his wife, Midge, of Prattsburg, N.Y.; two sisters, Virginia Studley of Ludlow, Mass., Louise Lovley of Woonsocket, R.I.; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, March 26, 2003. Family and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St. Caribou. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Chapel of the Funeral Home with Ron Rosser, officiating. Spring interment will be held at the Stockholm Cemetery, Stockholm.
