CARIBOU – James I. Turner Sr., 79, died Dec. 25, 2007, in Bangor. He was born Sept. 5, 1928, in Presque Isle, the son of Charles F. and Ida May (McNeal) Turner Sr. He was a graduate of Presque Isle High School. He served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was employed at Stone Container Corp., Connecticut, for many years, until his retirement. James was a hard worker and lived for his family. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was also a member of Lister-Knowlton Post No. 9389 VFW. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen R. (Boutote) Turner of Caribou; two sons, James I. Turner Jr. of Thomaston, Conn., and Clifford Turner of Bangor; three daughters Linda Turner of Winsted, Conn., Brenda Frantzis of Meriden, Conn., and Sandra Humphries of Missouri; a brother, Charles Turner Jr. of Woodland; a sister, Marian Turner of Mapleton; and four grandchildren, April Frantzis, James Turner III, Jennifer Humphries and Robert Humphries Jr. He was predeceased by a brother, Sgt. Clifford Turner, during World War II; and a sister, Nevade Jacobs, in 1969. Private family funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie, pastor, officiating in a Mass of Christian burial. Spring interment will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are by Mockler Funeral Home, Caribou.
