PRINCETON – James F. Walton Jr., 74, died March 5, 2008, at Maine Veterans’ Home, Bangor, on his 46th wedding anniversary. He was born July 16, 1933, in Caribou, the son of James A. Sr. and Hazel (King) Walton. Jim worked as a produce inspector for the State of Maine for 15 years in Aroostook County, and considered himself a real “county boy.” He enjoyed hunting, fishing and morning coffee with the “gang” at McDonald’s. He was an avid Red Sox fan, attending his first game at Fenway Park last year with Second Baptist Church. Jim was a deacon with Second Baptist Church and was partial to all the members. He sang in the church choir for more than 22 years, but was known for singing anywhere “just because he was happy.” Jim was a dedicated worker and assisted his wife of 46 years, Carmella, run the food pantry for the church. Jim was a valuable asset to the church and will be greatly missed by Pastor Chris Stevens and all his fellow parishioners. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Hazel. Survivors include his wife, Carmella of Princeton; three sons, James Shannon of North Carolina, Shawn and his wife, Elizabeth, of St. Stephen, New Brunswick, and Scott of Pembroke; 10 brothers and sisters, Doris Carroll of North Carolina, Myrtle Spencer of Bangor, Maynard and his wife, Carol, of Orrington, Ronald and his wife, Jean of Virginia, Elery of Caribou, Cecil and his wife, Lois, of Caribou, Lendell of Phipps-burg, Judy Hanest and her husband, Kenneth, of Virginia, Pauline Connley and her husband, Carroll, of Glenburn, and Lydia Dieckemann and her husband, Douglas, of Houlton; two granddaughters, Jessica and Amy; many nieces and nephews, and so many friends, it would be impossible to name them all. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, at Second Baptist Church, Calais, with Pastor Chris Stevens officiating. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais and Eastport.
